Why the STC Program affects how much you pay – and so you must act now!

Under the Renewable Energy Scheme, you can qualify for a reduction in the cost of your solar panels. The STC Program (Small-scale Technology Certificate) allows a reduction in cost for solar systems up to 100kW.

 
How is this cost reduction calculated?

The STC price can vary anywhere between $0 to $40. The higher it is, the better cost reduction you get. At the moment, the value of the reduction is about $35-$38 per STC, so this equates to roughly $525 per kW installed. When the STC value was $17, then the cost reduction was only worth about $220 per kW installed.

 
Why act now?

The value of the STC can never go above $40. It is currently between $35-$38! This means you’re currently able to reduce your costs – possibly by the largest amount you may ever be able to. When the value of the STC drops – and no one can tell you when it will drop or by how much – then your savings will diminish!
